Two of the greatest inventions to come out of UC Berkeley are LSD and the C programming language. I don't believe that is a coincidence. Oh yeah, and one of the best 'free' UNIX's, FreeBSD.
Want to run more than one OS at the same time, including cut and paste between OS's? Check out VMware. This program works like a charm! Be prepared to have quite a bit of extra computing power though.
